Yes. iLEAD Flex is a full-time public school option. However, how and when learning occurs depends on the program you enroll in and your learner’s individual learning plan. Some learners will attend in-person on campus 4-5 days a week, some will attend 2 days a week, and some will only attend as needed for 1:1 meetings and extracurricular activities.

Project-Based Learning (PBL) is a teaching method in which learners learn the curriculum by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects.

Our iLEAD schools are accredited by WASC (The Western Association of Schools and Colleges). We have every expectation that iLEAD Flex will receive its accreditation within the first year of operation.

iLEAD’s class sizes are typically smaller than those of local community schools. Class and workshop sizes will vary by program, grade level, and offering; however, we’re confident that the school provides adequate staffing to provide an individualized learning environment for your child.

Absolutely. A well-rounded school experience will be offered at iLEAD Flex. Offered activities each year will be dependent on learner interest, staff expertise, and community provider opportunities.

Yes! While they may be different for each program and grade level, all learners will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of field studies, meetups, events, and activities that support project based learning, individualized learning, and social-emotional learning.

iLEAD Flex admissions will be through an enrollment lottery. As a California public charter school, if the school receives more applications for enrollment than available seats, your child’s admission will be determined by a random public enrollment lottery. Learners currently enrolled at iLEAD Antelope Valley will have top priority for enrollment for the first year. Their siblings will receive “sibling priority,” should they choose to apply. If you currently attend this program, simply fill out the intent-to-return form, and your spot is guaranteed. Siblings should complete the enrollment lottery application.

No. Once admitted through the enrollment lottery and registered, you simply have to complete your annual “Intent to Return” form by the deadline, and your spot is guaranteed.

We highly encourage parents to get involved through various committees, such as the School Site Council, iSUPPORT, and ELAC. Parents are also able to volunteer throughout the year.

Yes. Unless your child is sick, attendance is required Monday-Thursday. Friday workshops are optional, but learners are expected to engage in and complete their assigned work for that day either synchronous or asynchronously.

Learners who attend regular on-campus instruction must have a vaccination record on file.

Core academic workshops support learner mastery and application in key California standards. This could include project-based learning opportunities, small group instruction, collaborative activities, and other evidence-based instruction.

For the 4-day-a-week 9th-12th grade Program, Monday-Thursday. For the 2-day-a-week TK-12th program, a Tuesday/Thursday cohort will be offered first and may grow to incorporate a Monday/Wednesday second cohort.

When learners are not on campus, they will continue their assignments independently. In a hybrid learning environment, a seamless transition between work on campus and work at home allows for a consistent academic experience with the flexibility of working anywhere. Dedicated staff will be available to provide support via Zoom or email, ensuring learners have access to support daily.

Yes. For Flex Exploration TK–12 learners, educational funds are available through the school in the form of instructional funds. The amount allocated is based on grade level, enrollment date, and program choice. These funds allow families to utilize approved community providers to access academic curriculum and enrichment experiences as part of the assigned individual learning plan.

Program options are available to be changed each semester when the family, learner, and facilitator determine the learner’s individual learning plan for that semester. The child’s facilitator will work to support the best learning experience within each program.

We will offer support in core academic instruction along with enrichment activities based on learners’ interests. These workshops are overseen by our own credentialed staff on the iLEAD Flex campus.

A variety of approved curriculum options will be available for independent study learners. For high school learners on-campus 4 days a week, most instruction will take place in person, using Bright Thinker as the core curriculum and project-based learning as the method of instruction.

Yes. Annually, each learner will meet with their facilitator (and counselor if in high school) to determine their individual learning plan, graduation plan, and classes for the year.

For the 4-day-a-week on-campus option, a more traditional schedule will be followed, with instruction in each subject area taking place. For the 2-day-a-week on-campus option, a more flexible workshop schedule will provide voice and choice between small group instruction, workshops, 1:1 support, study hall, peer collaboration, and extracurricular activities.

Yes! As a network, approved core courses in high school are rigorous and college preparatory and count toward college admissions. Dual Enrollment college classes offered also count toward both college admissions and transferable credits for four-year colleges that accept transfer credits.

A Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway is a sequence of courses within a career area that allows learners to gain the skills and knowledge needed for a specific field, often leading to a certification or degree. These pathways prepare learners for college and careers by providing academic and technical skills, knowledge, and training. A Computer Information Technology Pathway with a focus on emergent Ai will be offered year 1, with the ability to utilize Community Providers to take pathways in other industry sectors. Learners do not need to be committed to a particular career to benefit from a CTE pathway. The skills learned in all CTE pathways are transferable and entrepreneurial in nature. Learners may switch CTE pathways or complete more than one CTE pathway over the course of four years.

Dual enrollment is a program that allows high school learners to take college-level courses and earn transferable college credit and high school credit while still attending high school. These programs allow learners to get a head start on their college education while finishing high school credits faster with a weighted GPA. Dual enrollment costs nothing out of pocket for textbooks and fees and will be a part of community provider funds available to use for classes/curriculum. Dual enrollment classes will primarily take place online, with a dedicated Success Lab class on-campus to help learners succeed in their college classes. However, classes may also take place live on campus or in person at Antelope Valley College’s Lancaster campus.

Yes. Work-based learning and internship is a huge part of what we do here. Learners will set their own goals for graduating college and career-ready, and our staff will help support that, including industry-recognized credentials, work-based learning, internship, mentorship, and work-experience education. Whether as a part of a CTE pathway, a passion project, or a dedicated goal, all learners will have the opportunity to prepare for postsecondary endeavors.

Yes. Program adjustments can be made at the turn of each semester when families, learners, and facilitators collaborate to design the upcoming Individualized Learning Plan (ILP).

Absolutely. Each semester, you will meet 1:1 with your facilitator and school counselor to design an Individualized Learning Plan and graduation map matching your postsecondary dreams.
