iLEAD Flex Exploration learners in grades TK-8 are invited to join us for monthly hands-on STEAM challenges. Brought to you by iLEAD Student Aerospace Projects, these challenges invite learners to explore the Engineering Design Process.

Individualized Learning Plans: September 24, 25 and October 2
iLEAD Flex focuses on a holistic approach to education, nurturing the whole child by developing both their social-emotional and academic skills.
At the start of each school year, instead of a traditional parent-teacher conference, iLEAD Flex learners, facilitators, and parents/guardians work together to create an Individualized Learning Plan (ILP). This living document guides each learner’s instruction and social-emotional growth throughout the year. The team continues to collaborate, reflecting on, monitoring, and adjusting the ILP as needed.
The main purpose of the ILP is to empower learners to become active participants in their own education. Learners reflect on their achievements, identify areas for improvement, and evaluate their progress. This process starts with basic self-assessment for younger students and builds their ability to critically evaluate their own growth over time.
Throughout the year, learners and facilitators regularly meet to review assessment data, reflect on what they’ve accomplished, and set new goals. Learners also maintain a portfolio to showcase their reflections and progress throughout the school year.
Please look for a sign-up option from your learner’s facilitator and plan to attend your Individualized Learning Plan meeting on September 24, 25, or October 2 to support your learner’s growth.

Minimum Day: September 24
This Thursday, September 24, will be a minimum day for all iLEAD Flex Exploration learners. TK-8 learners will be dismissed at 12:30 PM.
This schedule adjustment gives us time to prepare to welcome all of you for Individualized Learning Plans. Please check for an invitation from your facilitator to schedule your learner’s ILP.
iLEAD Flex Exploration’s Coffee with the Director: October 1
Join us for Coffee with the Director! This is a great opportunity for families of enrolled iLEAD Flex Exploration learners to connect, ask questions, and get updates on what’s happening around campus.

iLEAD Flex Studio TK-8th Graders Take Flight with Hands-On Aeronautics Project
Have you ever looked up at the sky and wondered what it would be like to be able to fly like a bird? This semester, iLEAD Flex Studio learners in TK-8th grade are turning that wonder into discovery with the school’s Soaring Aeronautics Project.

Here is what our learners are working on.
Tailored for TK through 8th Grade
To make aerospace engaging for every age level, iLEAD Flex meets learners right where they are:
- Young learners explore how living things fly, studying butterflies and birds to understand nature’s original aviators.
- Older learners dive deeper into the physics of flight, researching and exploring history and meteorology to understand the forces described by Sir Isaac Newton and Daniel Bernoulli.
What Learners Will Experience
Through hands-on projects, our 8th graders will use the engineering design process to build, test, and take to the skies:
- Build & Launch: Fabricate and test custom gliders.
- Simulator Training: Develop flight and navigation skills on preflight simulators.
- Meet the Experts: Learn directly from glider pilots about controls and aerodynamics while interacting with a full-scale glider.
- Take to the Skies: Our 8th graders will take flight in a real glider, putting their training into action in the air!
iLEAD Flex Exploration Workshop Schedule
iLEAD Flex Exploration’s workshops are in full swing. Below are schedule details.
- High School: Workshops for high school are Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM with the option to stay until 3:30 for electives and future clubs. Please see the directions and map in this post showing you where to drop off high schoolers.
- TK-8th Grade: The hours are 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Parents will be able to walk their learner onto campus. Their facilitators will greet the learners and take them into their classroom at 9:00 AM.
